Back to "Tips of knowledge..."

I first heard about Tepezcohuite from a much publicized account of a young American lady whose airplane crashed in a jungle of Tabasco or somewhere in south Mexico. According to the account, which was her own testimonial, wondering alone in the jungle was she with severe burns all over her body, she knew no more: she lost consciousness and later was found by natives who healed her burns with powder made from this crust from a tree they call Tepezcohuite.  Three or four months past, and when she returned to civilization with her father, she was completely healed and with no scars.   I remember that this happened in late eighties or early nighties (rather the first), and Tepezcohuite products popped up:  powder of Tepezcohuite, soap of Tepezcohuite, etc.  I remember that I tried the powder on a difficult, non-healing and deep pressure sore (decubitus) I had had for one year or so, and I regretted to have used it.  The powder "grabbed" on the flesh and formed a crust which I was afraid to leave, and tried to remove instead.  Well, when my care giver finally removed it all,  I was afraid to try again.  I returned to my more conventional methods (For a time, I used a daily application of bee honey on a clean sore - washed with soap and water. This seemed to work; the sore was kept free from infection, and the honey seemed to help nourish the cells.  But two or three years later, I noticed that I was experiencing a lot of itching inside my mouth when I ate anything that contained bee honey. I must have developed an allergy, I thought, and I stopped using it.).  The years past, and the pressure sore did not advance much. It would tend to close by the sides, but not by its depth.  It was not a "pressure" sore per say, because it was not produced by any seating or laying-down pressure. Where I have it (near the coxis) is totally pressure free while sitting in my wheelchair or while laying down on my bed.  It  is the rubbing of skin against skin which produces the sore and makes it hard to heal. It is the skin inside of a fold, which was produced out of scar tissue from my first pressure sore after my accident (when I remained 11 days and 11 nights laying down flat on my back on a hospital bed, with 15 Kilograms of traction from my head... in a hospital of Guadalajara, Mexico - August 1963 - in case anybody wonders).  Somtime around March/1996  I tried Tepezcohuite again, this time as an unguent. Its healing properties were soon evident.  It keeps my sore absolutely free from bacteria the whole 24-hour period between every daily morning cleansing (I know, because it remains clean and odorless, which was not the case with any other home or prescribed remedy, including the bee honey), and the tissue has had the chance to heal, I guess, because new tissue was promptly filling the sore. The rubbing (skin-to-skin) continued, though, and the sore actually has not had a chance to completely heal yet, but it is in its way. With the sore kept open, new tissue has been growing around it and is filling the fold itself.  It has been a sore of 8 years (since about 1990) and nothing worked as well as the Tepezcohuite unguent has.  It works equally great on anything which requires tissue or skin healing, such as burns, cuts, etc. (Recently, my care giver got a deep cut on her lower lip, which required 8 stitches. She put Tepezcohuite on it, and 4 days later there was no sign that she had been wounded).  On the label, it says that it is traditionally used for a number of skin problems, such as "acne", "paño negro", sun burns, etc.  Different companies make it, but I have found "Arbol de la Vida" (Tree of Life) to be the best brand.  In its formula, it includes: Tepezcohuite crust (mimosa teniuflora poir), wheat germ oil, "rosa mosqueta" oil, and "vehiculo" C.B.P.    I pay less than $2 (two dollars) for a 50-gram case in Tijuana, Mexico, which lasts one and a half or two months of daily applications.  I am not set up to re-sell this product, and I will no longer offer to buy it for any one as a favor, since it is now more easily available online: read the very first email below.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
this product, as anything else, I guess, should not be used for extended periods of time. I just noticed today (May 25, 2001) that I have become alergic to tepezcohuite cream. Yes, the same cream I called "Miracle Healer". The area that I rub with it becomes redish. I cannot use that cream any longer, but I will see if I can use tepezcohuite in some other form. In the mean time, I will use a new cream I just tested that works "like miracle". It dries and heals quickly. The name is Quadriderm NF.

Hi Arthur,

Thank you for your reply.   Sorry this is causing you so much trouble.  Actually, l also emailed Bert Gunn, who had sent you an email on your website saying he had the Tepezcohuite in powder form and he said he would send me some.  So l guess it's not imperative that you send it to me...

As well, l'd like to make you aware of a website l found after l emailed you that would save you this trouble in the future.  lt's called "Herbs of Mexico" Herb Emporium.  lt's a family run business based in Los Angeles that carries many herbal products including the Tepezcohuite ointment by " arbol de vida" in 50 and 120g.  The prices are reasonable, $3 for the 50g and $5 for the 120g.  They take orders by phone or fax, and say they will have online ordering soon.  Might be easier for you to recommend them rather than offer to ship yourself.  Not sure if they ship to Canada, haven't contacted them.

So again, thank you for your trouble...my daughter's leg seems to be healing ok.  Her skin isn't as raw anymore.  And it doesn't seem to bother her too much...so my initial sense of panic has settled a bit.

Nancy

Arthur,

Thanks for expediting your response.  I stated that I've been using Quadriderm NF Cream for over 10 years...well 10 years ago, I was a young 19-year old!  I can think back to about the time when I was 12 years old using Quadriderm. I exclusively use it for cold sores and it is incredible!!!

My Mom is notorious for getting cold sores...always has...as long as I
can remember.  My sisters would get them occasionally but it would never
fail...I would get them at least twice a year.  As a growing 12-year
old, what Hot Babe would want to kiss me with a cold sore, right?
I remember it being introduced to me by my Mom.  At that time, we lived
in El Paso, TX and our family Dr. was on the other side of the US Border
so all of the medication we ever took was purchased at the corner
"Farmacia".

Every single medicine or ointment I used to cure cold sores would
always....always....make them bigger and create scabs on my lip
(Consequently, they've left scars on my lips because of that). It seemed
that they burned or dried up the cold sore from the outside and work its
way in.

Quadriderm was the first and the only medication, thus far, that dried
up the cold sores from the inside so it NEVER produced any dryness or
scarring on the outside...it has kept the swelling down and is not very
noticeable..so I've stuck with it ever since...and, I might add, it
heals within 3 to 4 days...nothing I've used has even come close to
producing this kind of result.

I'm now living far from the border, so it's quite difficult to get it at the local
pharmacy.  I currently have a 40g tube now but it's half full so I'd
like to plan ahead for posterity...hence...this email to you.

Please let me know if you can get it...the label reads:

Quadriderm NF Crema
Betametasona/Clotrimazol/Gentamicina
Schering-Plough

Thanks again!

Oh, and...by the way, if you decide to add this story to your site,
please change the name and the location....Thanks!

Gabriel

Good things that work not available in the richest country of the World? Why? Of course I can get some in my next trip to Tijuana (9 miles from my house), and send it to you. Send me an address. I am not set up for doing this more often than occasionally. I know that years will pass before you need more of it, but, if it is as good as you claim it to be, shouldn't something be done to make it available to everybody. Let's investigate it, and send any news to me for publication, if you like. I changed your name and location, as you requested. I will have this story published in my page now.

Subject: An Alternate to Tepez.....

Mr. Heyer,
This is not a request but since reading your article on Tepez....(forgot how
to spell it) It occurs to me that you might need yet another alternate way to
cleanse the wound you are having a problem with. It will kill germs, bacteria
and viruses almost immediately. Some require immerision for several minutes.
It is COLLODIAL SILVER which is 99.999 percent distilled water. The balance
is pure silver which has been made a colloid (liquid) . This stuff also helps
wounds to heal. To avoid a lot of wasted time here I will answer any
questions you may wish to ask but about the best thing I can do is give you
the URL. I assure you I have no connection what ever with the maker of this
product other than being a grateful user of same.
I also do not know if it would be significally beneficial to you but do
believe it would

The URL is            http://www.pe.net/~abilene/colloidal.htm

I stumbled across your info by looking for info on Boric Acid and Carpenter
Ants.
Regards,
Joe

P.S.
Re: the application. For topical use I use it maximum strength by just
using a spray bottle. From the model which cost about $125.00 (Its gone up a bit) the maximum strength is 80 PPM (parts per million). If you have a stubborn germ/virus it may be necessary  to immerse  or keep moist somehow for several minutes. The way it kills is by smothering the germ/virus. Some it will kill instantly and it is also good at stopping the itching associated with it which also is almost instantaneous.

I use a few eye drops for eye wash when I am having eye problems  however I
only use 15PPM  for that.

I'd like to know if you are still able to ship tepezcohuite?
I bought the soap about two months ago at an alley in LA, at that time I had no idea of what it was or if it was going to work or not so I just bought  one bar just to give it a try since I had already tired of trying everything with no good results... I thought I would give it a try since I was really in need for something for my "Paño"   I used the soap for a month and it worked just great!! My dark spots are really gone!!!  Unfortunately I haven't been able to find it again... Please let me know if you are still able to ship tepezcohuite.
Thank you very much.

Dear ...,
Thanks for sharing your story. It is interesting and informative. As soon as I have a break, with your permission, I would like to add it to my site.
I am not in the business of selling Tepezcohuite (soap or cream (of the brand "Ärbol de la vida"), which have worked well on me), but, as a favor, I will purchase it for you in Tijuana, and send it to you for the cost, plus packing and mailing.
My limit is 3 pieces, of soap or cream only, or any combination of the 2 things. Send $14 for the 3 pieces. You may send a check to my name, at the address below, or, if you prefer to pay with credit card, do it via paypal, by using the paypal button of my company's ORDER page at http://www.mouthstick.net/ordering/ordering.htm
Regards,
Arthur Heyer

Hello there!  My name is Andrea ...and I am looking for Quadriderm.  I
used to live in Los Angeles as a kid, and my grandmother brought some back
after visiting Mexico for the weekend.  It treated my heat/sun rash so fast!
I am now living in Pennsylvania, and have since developed the skin rash
again.

Arthur,
My mother uses Quadriderm NF for her psorises with wonderful results.  She has found nothing else like it and is in desperate need for some after running out several months ago.  After reading your post, I am wondering if you are still shipping to the US?  I would love to surprise my mother.  Thanks for your help.

I don't know if I can still contact this screen name, but I wanted to share my story about Quadriderm.
Awhile back I used Quadriderm for a burn from an iron and it worked like wonders. After being burned, obviousely it hurt pretty bad and after maybe 5 min.'s after putting the cream on the pain went away. I was amazed.
My dad had gotten the cream from a co-worker who said he swore by it and it worked on everything.
Like "Gabriel" I also get cold sores and I had an outbreak awhile back and I put on Abreva (over-the counter cold sore medication). Usually it works and they go away completely in about 6 days, but this time it wasn't working and I was in a lot of pain. The Abreva was drying up the cold sore which left a crust. I kept on taking it off, but the cold sore remained underneath. I remembered what my dad said about his co-worker saying it worked on anything, so I decided I'd try it on my cold sores. Believe it or not...it worked. The pain went away in minutes and they completely healed in about 2 days. It is a "mircale medicine".
I still have half of the tube left. I recently went to Ensinada and bought the generic brand of Quadriderm. The guy said it worked just as well. Hopefully he was telling the truth.

Subject: tepezkohuite

hi,
I just saw your piece in Tepezkohuite. We have been using it for a long time during gatherings and ceremonies in Mexico, and it is amazing. For open wounds we just use the dry powder and let it form an ugly looking but healing scab. When it falls off, the skin is renewed. our group has been able to get a good supply of the powder and always have some here. It can also be mixed with honey, Aloe Vera, cold cream, or any other ointment, as well as chewing gum for ulcers (havent tried it, but that is how they make it up for stomach problems in Mexico. if you are alergic to it, it may be the base it is mixed in, not the tepez. itself. you might try mixing the powder with something else, or just using it straight.
good luck and thanks for writing about this amazing stuff. If you have trouble getting some, let me know,
Bert
