"Give me Tools and I will do
the Job"
This 20 minute documentary
shows Arthur Heyer, a C-4 quadriplegic,
working with his mouthstick
in his specially designed office...
Most of this equipment is available
for sale and described in the pages of this web site.
The Videotape Features: (mouth stick)
- Independence in an office situation, working with a mouthstick
and other special equipment.
- Easy Access to multiple materials with a turntable desk.
- Use of a regular telephone...with a mouthstick. (mouth stick)
- Loading papers, envelopes, cards, forms, carbons, etc.
easily and efficiently with a
- mouthstick. (mouth stick)
- Interchanging daisy wheels of a typewriter-printer...with
a mouthstick. (mouth stick)
- Depressing 2 keys of a computer simultaneously with a mouthstick.
(mouth stick)
- Interchanging floppy disks of a computer...with a mouthstick.
(mouth stick)
- A wheelchair portable desk: everything that can be done with
it!
This videotape, which was
produced in 1985,
can be inspirational to those
who (mistakenly) believe that being a high-level quad
may mean a life of continuous
personal care with some time left for leisure,
or that quads are unemployable!
Note: The features above written in italic
are of activities which are not practical these
days. The rest of the activities, although some done on an old computer,
are not basically different from what is now used.

>received your cassette yesterday. your amazing agility with
the mouthstick
>is nothing short of astounding. new computer technologies
alleviate much
>of the 'manual' writing for all of us, but jotting down notes
still is needed
>now and again. you have developed exceptional fine motor skills
in
>writing.
>thanks for the inspiration. will be in touch. hope all
